Vinted Members Voice Frustration Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
